Course assessment :

students must complete a number of practical exercises, from creating a product/brand to pitching an idea during the course.

The business course was designed for people that either want to understand business or that would like to start their own business (either as a registered company or an freelance/sole trader basis)

The course is invaluable to anybody entering the business arena and covers the required theory via a hands on approach taking the view that business knowledge is only relevant if the student can in fact carry out the practical aspects of business.

The course is ideal for anybody that wants to fast track their careers and understand business, marketing and business related law. in real terms (not just the theory behind the same)

The course covers: Business entities and law, pricing and products, maximising profit, business growth strategies, creating and understanding business plans, markets and market share, business accounts, marketing: focus groups, marketing on a tiny budget, networking, pitching ideas (story boards, proposals), marketing and marketing plans, brands, negotiation skills, sales and selling, staff and resources, finding suppliers, measuring business performance, sensitivity test, disaster recovery, H&S and legislation, funding the business, research and creativity.

Tuition is classroom based with role play and practical exercises to stimulate creativity and learning.

Lectures are conducted on Tuesdays 10am - 1pm. Candidates are required to set aside an extra 3-4 hours per week to complete assignments. On successful completion of the course including the examinable component you will receive the Business Competence Diploma
